Lifting and sliding patio doors complement our range of bespoke high performance windows and doors, and feature a range of security options, ensuring each one meets our high standards of quality control and of course your individual requirements. Lift and slide doors have a different opening mechanism than older sliding doors that move along bottom tracks, improving usability, safety and energy efficiency.

By turning the handle, the entire sliding sash can be effortlessly lifted off the ground and then slid aside. Because the sash is physically lifted from the ground to slide, it also lowers back into place when closed (either partially or fully). This means the full weight of the sash presses down, creating an airtight seal that eliminates drafts and energy loss. It also means that moving the door back and forth doesn't feel like pushing a heavy piece of furniture. In fact, you can open and close it with just one hand, or even a few fingers.

Lift and slide with standard patio

Standard sliding doors move along tracks in the floor, offering little mechanical assistance in opening. This means pushing the full weight of the door, which not only creates extra work, but also rubs and wears the seals. Over time, traditional sliding patio doors can start to leak air as the seals become deformed or worn out, and can allow moisture in. This leads to wasted energy, internal cold spots and eventual repairs.

By turning the handle of the lift-sliding door 180 degrees, the sash is raised and slides effortlessly along a series of rollers in the track. This means it slides out of the weatherseal, eliminating wear and allowing you to open and close more easily. The door can also be lowered and locked partially open. Since the entire weight is pushed down, in some cases hundreds of pounds, it is very difficult to move. Therefore, you can let it crack with complete confidence.

Glass options for energy efficiency, safety and sound insulation

Lift and slide doors have large glass surfaces for the most natural light and the best views. Since most of the total surface area of a door is glass, the glass you choose plays an important role in overall energy efficiency and final U-value.

Triple glazing with a low Ug value in combination with non-conductive warm edge spacers represents an optimal combination of thermal performance. In addition, the gap between each pane can be filled with argon, an inert gas that is less conductive than ordinary air.

Hardware Accessories

Large glass surfaces can be a potential vulnerability, depending on their location. Balcony doors on the second floor pose little risk, while doors on the ground floor should require more security. This includes multi-point locking, bolts, locking handles and concealed hinges. Laminated safety glass should be installed on at least the outermost panes to provide an extra layer of security and make the glass less shatterable. All of these options and more are available and allow for fully personalized configuration.

Colors and Finishes

Vinyl frames are available in a wide range of RAL colours, as well as finishes such as wood grain. Our solid wood frames are available in both the full RAL color spectrum and a range of natural stains and finishes. Aluminum is also available in the RAL color range applied to anodized surfaces by powder coating. Two-color options are also available.

Durable hardware designed for large doorsLift and slide doors feature advanced operating hardware. A simple turn of the large handle quietly releases the safety lock and lifts the door lightly. The lightest touch activates our innovative sliding technology, opening the door effortlessly.

Sliding patio doors are nothing new, but lift/sliding doors are a whole different animal. A type of multi-slide patio door, the lift/slide, for those unfamiliar, is a door that uses special hardware that allows the panels to lift off the tracks and weatherstripping and slide open or closed. When it's time to close the glass door, the handle lowers the panel on the track for a snug fit.
